After much discussion and planning we decided to try and make a new Mini Wetland scrape just off the pathway on one of the flower beds nearest the entrance from Mill O Forest School<\/a> into the Park. This location was picked because it is always water-logged after rain on the path and grass so the plan was to collect as much excess water as possible and draw it away.

The design of the wetland scrape in theory should collect all of the water from the path and surrounding grass, helping the plants and shrubs to flourish while allowing for better use of the pathway when wet. It will also increase biodiversity in this area and attract new wildlife, hopefully some wetland insects and possibly even amphibians as we have already found several frogs in this area of the Park. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We planted a selection of new wildflowers all suited to marsh \/ wetlands, including Yellow flag iris, Valerian, Loostrife, Ragged robin and Cuckoo flowers and plan to add more plugs and seeds as we go. Thanks to Curam Fyvie<\/a> for their help and guidance.

The bulb bed adjoining this was also cleaned up and new wildflower bulbs planted, hopefully next year this whole area will be a little more vibrant and attract more wildlife, birds and insects.

Opposite the wetland scrape we made a new mound which has been planted up with daffodils plus a selection of other wildflower bulbs (Camassia, Fritillaria, Crocuses) to add even more colour. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
