Children welcome but must be accompanied by an adult. We should also have Crocuses&#8217; and Snowdrops to plant.<br><br><strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#00d084\" class=\"has-inline-color\">10am start &#8211; weather permitting on the weekend. <br>Volunteers will need to bring own spade, gloves and suitable footwear. <\/mark><br><\/strong><br><strong>We plan to use the slit planting method which is a fast and efficient way to plant bulbs :- <\/strong><br><br><strong>Make the slit:<\/strong> Push a sharp garden spade or turf-cutting knife straight down into the grass to a depth of about 2 to 3 inches (Crocuses&#8217;\/Snowdrops) and 4 inches (Daffodils)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Open the gap:<\/strong> Gently rock the spade back and forth (or push the handle forward slightly) to open a V-shaped or narrow slit in the soil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Insert the bulb:<\/strong> Drop 3 to 5 bulbs (Crocuses&#8217;\/Snowdrops) and 2 to 3 bulbs (Daffodils) into the open slit, making sure the root or basal plate faces down and the pointed tip or green shoot faces up. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Close and seal:<\/strong> Remove the spade and press the turf firmly back together with your foot or hands to close the slit and eliminate air pockets around the roots. <br><br>Each slit group should be approx. 6 to 12 inches apart. <br><br><strong>Our committee members will be on hand to advise where to plant, we hope to get as many as possible in over the duration of the weekend so any time that you can manage is appreciated. <br><\/strong><br>If you would like to come along please get in touch via our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fofdp.co.uk\/index.php\/contact\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"582\">contact form<\/a> or Facebook messenger and we will add you to the list.
