Park Maintenance Day – 6th Sept – 10am

We are planning our next Maintenance Day in Forest Drive Park on 6th Sept from 10am – hopefully the weather is fine. Please ensure you bring along a good pair of gloves, wear suitable footwear and any grass shears, snips welcome. We will provide some tools on the day if needed. Risk assessment will be available to read and sign on the day for any new members or members of the public.

We plan to :-
1. Cutting back wildflower beds and where possible scattering seeds
2. Weeding of wetland area
3. Weeding of hedgerow area and grass removal if possible
4. Tidy up and cut back shrub area beside Hamish Park
5. Litter pick and pick up dog mess from around Hamish Park, checking each wild grass area, Park edges near the Path and in amongst the Fruit Trees, Wetland area and the Mound.

** Update **

We managed to get flower beds trimmed back, seeds scattered, weeding was completed around wetland area, wildflower beds and Hamish Park. Also the flower bed in front of Hamish Park. Over 15 bags of dog waste was removed from no mow meadow area between Hamish Park and the Goal Posts – concerning that dog owners are happy to do this in Parks where Children play. We picked up and disposed of these, it seems the same few people who do this.

Litter pick was also completed, mainly sweet wrappers, crips bags and plastic bottle of flavoured water and juice. Some glass was picked up around one of the picnic tables near Hamish Park. Disappointing that people would smash bottles around picnic tables that are regularly used by local nurseries and school children.

The Park however is looking a lot tidier so thanks to all those who came to help.
