Help shape the future of your green space
The future for such spaces lie with local communities who are being encouraged to work with other groups, organisations and other key stakeholders to secure a sustainable future.
Finding new ways of funding, new ways to maintain and maximise the community health benefits of our open green spaces is key to their survival. Everyone deserves to have access to open green space, within a 10 minute walk of their home.
Let us work together to help maintain and develop our local green space for all to enjoy.
A recent survey by the Association for Public Service Excellence highlights the increasingly important role Local Parks and Greenspaces play within communities. They are no longer viewed simply as open fields which divide housing estates, but as key contributors to addressing climate change, supporting public health and developing community vitality.
95% Biodiversity
70% Litter Control
66% Climate Change
Biodiversity continues to be identified as the main environmental priority for parks services at 95%. The most popular initiatives carried out by local authorities and Friends Community groups include – Planting wildflower meadows, improving habitats for insects and bugs, erecting bird boxes and bat boxes, providing biodiversity information panels and pond creation.
Litter control has seen an increase in priority, rising from 65% to 70% for park services, reflecting growing concern around environmental quality and the visible impact of waste on local communities. Litter picking by volunteer groups has grown in popularity over the past few years and helps make a huge difference allowing people to foster pride within their community.
Climate Change ranks high at 66% underlining the sustained focus on mitigation, adaptation and resilience within greenspace services. There is growing awareness that local greenspace plays an important role in mitigating climate impacts. Parks are not only leisure spaces but important assets in helping fight climate change.
Our Member Associations and Friends
We pride ourselves in working with as many local and national groups and organisations as possible, along with local businesses and clubs who provide much needed assistance, help and support.

Meet Our Committee Officers
We are a dedicated group of volunteers working in partnership with Aberdeenshire Council in order to maintain and enhance the park for everyone to enjoy. We want the park to be developed and re-energised whilst retaining access for everyone. We are fully constituted and have four elected officers and ten committee members.
